About the RoleWe are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Corporate Legal team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Job DescriptionThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing and negotiating commercial agreements, with a strong understanding of contract administration and claims management advice. You will be responsible for ensuring the protection of the organization's interests in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
You will work closely with our Director Legal to negotiate, draft, interpret, and review contracts and legal agreements, including construction arrangements, supply of goods and services, and technology agreements.
- Negotiating and drafting contracts and legal agreements.
- Providing contract administration and claims management advice.
- Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
You will also be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A Law Degree from a recognized university.
- Extensive experience in preparing and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience in privacy law is considered an asset.
- Experience working for a regulated entity is considered an asset.
- Membership of good standing with a provincial law society and eligibility for admission to the Nova Scotia Barrister's Society.
