Job Summary

Voyageur Transportation Services is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for identifying current and prospective staffing requirements, providing information and services to employees, and coordinating the selection and examination boards to evaluate candidates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify current and prospective staffing requirements and develop strategies to meet them
  • Provide information and services to employees, including employee assistance and counseling
  • Prepare and post notices and advertisements for job openings
  • Collect and screen applicants, and advise job applicants on employment requirements and terms and conditions of employment
  • Review candidate inventories and contact potential applicants to arrange interviews
  • Recruit graduates of colleges, universities, and other educational institutions
  • Co-ordinate and participate in selection and examination boards to evaluate candidates
  • Notify applicants of results of selection process and prepare job offers
  • Advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures
  • Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures
  • Determine eligibility to entitlements and arrange staff training
  • Supervise personnel clerks performing filing, typing, and record-keeping duties
  • Evaluate work environments, programs, and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury
  • Co-ordinate employee performance and appraisal programs
  • Assign, co-ordinate, and review projects and programs
  • Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs, and collective agreements
Requirements
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
  • MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word skills
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, and with tight deadlines
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Judgement, organized, reliable, and a team player
