Product Manager

The Product Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of nautical product plans, focusing on consumer segments and mass retailer needs. He/she must build personas of target customers and product objectives that will be used throughout the Go To Market process. Communicate and train sales, customer service, and internal teams on product objectives and customer targets to ensure effective campaign launches. The candidate is responsible for following a product or product line from conception to commercialization and SKU optimization according to the company's sales and marketing strategy, in close collaboration with sales, the R&D team, and other areas of the marketing department.
Product Line Management
- Manage complete ranges of nautical products;
- Establish and maintain 1- and 3-year product line strategies;
- Build personas of target customers, both buyers and end-consumers, so that sales and marketing have the frames of reference needed to launch effective campaigns;
- Carry out and present to management the business cases, profitability analyses, minimum production thresholds, and profitability analyses produced in collaboration with the product development team;
- Draw up specifications for the improvement of existing and new products;
- Establish strategy for discontinuing existing non-performing products;
- Manage the company's product development plan on a collaborative basis;
- Build product assortment proposals for major customers with sales;
- Conduct reviews of product development projects;
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with sales, the R&D team, and other areas of the marketing department;
- Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of common tools for product management (presentation templates, BOM breakdowns, project management, etc.);
- Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and commercial events;
- Support marketing in the development of sales tools and merchandising materials;
- Participate in sales force product training (Pelican & competition).
Marketing Research
- Research and gather general market information (trends, related/complementary products, etc.);
- Research and gather information on competitors (products, prices, promotional strategies, distribution networks, etc.);
- Evaluate the company's market share;
- Maintain in-store audit program;
- Gather information and trends on various market segments and sales channels;
- Collect product development ideas.

Requirements
- Between 4 to 5 years' experience in a similar role;
- University degree in marketing, administration, or a related discipline;
- Knowledge of large chain operations and experience with consumer durables;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a multi-tasking environment;
- Experience with the Stage-Gate process will also be considered an asset.
