Role Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team at Sechelt Hospital. This role plays a vital part in supporting the delivery of client care by performing clerical/receptionist functions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Performing clerical duties such as transcribing and processing physicians' orders, coordinating client appointments and transportation, arranging client tests and receiving results;
  • Receiving visitors and answering the telephone, prioritizing requests, and assembling and maintaining client charts;
  • Arranging for client admissions and discharges, performing timekeeping functions, and compiling statistics;
  • Type and distribute technical and non-technical reports and other materials;

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program;
  • One year's recent experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to deal with others effectively, organize work, operate related equipment, and utilize computer software applications;
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position;
  • Keyboarding speed of 40 w.p.m.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
