The Role

The Sociology Department at Douglas College invites applications for a contract faculty position.

The successful candidate will have experience teaching introductory sociology courses at the post-secondary level. A teaching and research specialization that complements existing departmental strengths. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the sociology of globalization, race and ethnicity, and citizenship and identity.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress in university transfer courses.
  • Plan, organize, and manage learning activities and resources.
  • Provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centered instruction.

To Be Successful in this Role
  • MA or PhD in Sociology.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful post-secondary teaching.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, excellent communication skills, demonstrated initiative and creativity, evidence of ongoing professional development, and a commitment to teaching excellence.
