Academic Expert in Written Communication

We are seeking a highly skilled academic expert in written communication to join our faculty team at Douglas College. As a contract instructor, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise with students and contribute to their growth and development.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in professional communication, with a minimum of a Master's degree in the field or a related discipline. They will also have significant experience teaching courses in written communication at the post-secondary level.
We are looking for someone who is able to adapt course content to suit the needs of specific programs, select appropriate textbooks, and create engaging teaching materials. A demonstrated ability to apply workplace writing theory to classroom practice is essential, as well as knowledge of and expertise in workplace writing to instruct students effectively.
The successful applicant will also have experience teaching domestic and international students with varying linguistic abilities, and be able to work collaboratively in a collegial and respectful manner.
Job DetailsThis is a part-time position, and the workload will be assigned based on available sections. The successful candidate will be expected to develop course outlines following the Curriculum Guidelines, design assignments and assessment criteria, and hold regular office hours.
The salary range for this position is estimated to be between $52.41 and $114.65 per hour, with the actual salary determined by the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement.
