Job Description

As a Technical Director for Publishing Services at IMP Aerospace & Defence, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development and publication of high-quality technical content. This position requires exceptional leadership skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of technical writing principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of writers and editors in preparing technical publications that meet customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop work packages, allocate resources, and prioritize tasks.
  • Determine formats and policies for publishing services, ensuring consistency and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Liaise with customer technical authorities to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Organize detailed work estimates and manage expenditures, ensuring budgetary control.
  • Perform performance appraisals for assigned staff, providing guidance and support for professional growth.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in technical writing or a related field, or equivalent experience in a technical publications environment.
  • Proven supervisory experience, preferably in a technical publications setting, with a minimum of 1-5 years of experience.
  • Excellent command of English grammar and vocabulary.
  • Proficiency in using software platforms such as MS Word, Adobe Framemaker, InDesign, Arbortext Epic Editor, and Adobe Acrobat, or comparable tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, and commitment to quality.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards, such as S1000D, ATA, CALs, MIL/STD Specifications, C-01-100-100/AG-006, SGML, and XML, would be an asset.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
