Safety Manager Role at Kiewit Energy Canada
Kiewit Energy Canada is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our staff and subcontractors on construction sites.

Responsibilities
- Safety Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to energy projects, as well as others on an as-needed basis. Ensure that safety protocols are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors. Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles.
- Incident Management and Investigation: Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents. Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to energy construction. Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Safety Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects. Conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Years of experience will be considered in lieu.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on energy construction projects. Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity.
- Professional certification in safety management preferred.
- CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
