Job Summary:

Blackline Safety is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team in Calgary, AB. As a key member of our team, you will assist in the management of our rapid growth and contribute to the preparation of external reporting packages, including quarterly and annual financial statements and management discussion and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review routine general ledger entries, monthly and quarterly reconciliations, and investigate and report on variances to expectation analysis.
  • Collaborate with the team on ad-hoc projects, including the automation and streamlining of various processes to improve the reporting timeline and process improvement.
  • Prepare various corporate accounting reports, analysis, and KPIs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage the quarterly reviews and annual audit process.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandums on complex accounting topics.
  • Maintain internal control processes related to assigned areas for the financial books and records of the Company.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Business Administration. Preference will be given to candidates with a professional accounting CPA designation or enrolled in the program.
  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in a similar role, preferably in a public mid-sized manufacturing/technology environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent organization skills in assuming responsibility for managing multiple priorities.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm with a focus on providing useful information to make good business decisions in a supportive environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze business results, identify, and clearly summarize key issues.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience in MS Excel and MS Word applications, with a willingness to develop a full working knowledge of the Company's NetSuite ERP system.
