Senior Financial Analyst

Reporting to the Manager, Capital Budgets and Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in preparing Expenditure Forecasts, Business Cases, Financial Management Board submissions, and Public Accounts Submissions. This position is responsible for providing strategic advice and support to departmental managers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop financial procedures, internal controls, regional and divisional audit verification strategies, and expenditure management reporting systems.
- Ensure timely and effective responses to capital reporting requirements of the Department of Community and Government Services and the Government of Nunavut.
- Verify third-party claims and gather necessary information for meeting reporting requirements under third-party funding obligations.
- Recognized undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Commerce, Finance/Accounting, or related field.
- Three (3) years related budgeting, accounting, and financial management experience.
- Completion of a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset.
- Fluency in English and French considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment considered assets.
- The Government of Nunavut is committed to creating a representative workforce.
- Possession of a criminal record may not disqualify candidates from being considered.
