Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Childcare Program Coordinator to join our team at North Shore Neighbourhood House. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and collaborating with a transdisciplinary team to design effective program plans and support for parents and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate childcare placements and monitor the implementation of the supported childcare program.
  • Work under general supervision and exercise considerable independence of judgment and action in carrying out duties and responsibilities.
  • Participate in designing program plans, monitoring implementation, and ensuring services are within prescribed budget.
  • Liaise and consult with internal and external contacts, developing a working network with ECE personnel.
  • Interview families and children requiring extra support, assessing needs and ability of childcare centres to accommodate those needs.
  • Act as a liaison between family, centre, school, and other community support team members.
  • Participate in development of training programs for staff, caregivers, and parents, and may supervise and train staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of care and guidance practices to promote social and personal development of young children.
  • Considerable knowledge of applicable policies, regulations, and rules governing the work performed.
  • Ability to assess needs of family, caregivers, and childcare centres to plan and carry out activities to promote social and personal development in children.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with a variety of families, children, staff, and community resources.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Diploma program in Early Childhood Education, plus considerable experience working independently in a consultative position with families and their children who require extra support.
  • Early Childhood Education, Special Needs Certificate, and Infant Toddler Certificate preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License required.
