Site Lean Leader

We are seeking an experienced Site Lean Leader to drive cultural change within our operational and business transformation environment. This role demands exceptional organizational, prioritization, and facilitation skills, along with the ability to lead effectively and engage proactively with business leaders and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Comply with Smiths policies, internal work regulations, and leadership behaviors.
- Comply with and participate in all Smiths quality, safety, health, and environmental programs, as well as its policies, procedures, and training requirements.
- Prevent violence and promote a favorable organizational environment.
- Keep the work area clean, tidy, and in good condition.
- Attend and participate in the organization's training.
- Act as a Strategic Partner liaising with relevant Departments, such as Production, Engineering, Human Resources, Materials, and Quality.
- Develop and execute SES strategy for the site.
- Build LEAN capabilities within Smiths in alignment with SES strategy. Collaborate with Division Lean colleagues to train practitioners, support cross-functional teams.
- Kaizens and act as Lean SME for Lean development programs.
- Train operational and functional teams in the SES Lean principles, methodology, and tools.
- Facilitate the development and deployment of a disciplined Daily Management System incorporating Leader Standard Work, Visual Management, and Daily Accountability.
- Partner with all functions to develop cross-functional end-to-end value stream maps to capture current state, define future state with a roadmap of actions to improve customer performance and achieve business objectives.
- Lead and support project ideation and hopper building for Lean and Six Sigma projects.
- Coach projects focused on improvements in customer performance, increased throughput and speed, reduced cycle times/lead times, and productivity improvement.
- Coach site leadership team & employees through regular Gemba walks to drive continuous improvement.
- Utilize best practices and data to influence leaders and teams to achieve positive business results.
- Identify, promote, and disseminate out-of-the-box Lean thinking and best practices, supports and coaches during SES strategy workshops and project implementations.
- Ensure effectiveness and consistency is in place across the site of the enterprise-wide SES deployment, including active participation in the global Community of Practice, sharing of best practices, supporting the success of other belts, and other duties to enable the success of SES at Smiths.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 5 years of demonstrable and extensive LEAN leadership within a Manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years facilitating large-scale strategic initiatives.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Background in Manufacturing environments considered an asset.
- Highly seasoned and experienced LEAN leader, a practitioner with a proven track record of end-to-end value stream management (e.g., operations, administration, customer-facing).
- 5 years of experience in Lean Management Systems within medium or large global organization.
- Project Management advance skills.
- Experience leading and creating high-performing teams and championing change.
- Leadership – ability to formulate and communicate clear vision and sense of direction and mobilize people.
- Communication – ability to effectively influence and articulate using different channels (verbal and written). Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Facilitating – ability to influence and facilitate multidisciplinary teams through structured workshops (strategic sessions, Kaizens, problem-solving sessions).
- Change management – ability to communicate a need for change, create all necessary conditions for successful change, and overcome different forms of resistance.
- Coaching – ability to coach people to develop their skills and abilities to achieve agreed-upon objectives.
- Training – ability to identify and formulate training needs and assure training execution and follow-up.
- Problem-solving – ability to coach and support leaders and teams in using data to drive problem-solving.
- Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes.
- Advanced level skill in Microsoft Office tools – including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent decision-making skills – ability to negotiate and balance decisions and priorities across needs of several functions. Ability to make timely decisions in the face of risk and uncertainty.
- Exceptional Lean expertise, planning, organization, and time management skills to effectively execute project plans using a structured approach (i.e., PDCA, DMAIC) all the way up to and including delivery.
- Demonstrated capacity for outstanding project prioritization, planning, and management.
- Able to plan own and wider project-related work within agreed deadlines.
- Able to review and suggest improvements to the work of team members to enhance delivery.
- Facilitates decisions via influence and data.
- Review work of project team members to deliver results at pace.
