Job Title: Director of Operations

Job Summary

The Director of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of Glow The Event Store. This includes managing and directing operational leadership, ensuring the company's objectives are achieved, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve business objectives
  • Manage and direct operational leadership to ensure effective team performance
  • Coordinate and communicate with division managers to develop leadership staff and improve project management
  • Work closely with the Human Resources department to coordinate operational staffing needs and onboarding
  • Manage cost controls and participate in budget planning, including capital expenditures
  • Host meetings with team members to achieve short- and long-term goals, and follow up to ensure goals and timelines are realistic and being delivered
  • Work closely with the President/Owner to ensure they are briefed on operational successes, issues, and resolutions
Requirements
  • Management experience of large teams
  • Understanding of facility or warehouse management
  • Understanding of fleet management and vehicle compliance
  • Project management experience an asset
  • Business management degree an asset but not required
  • Recreation/event management degree an asset but not required
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication, delegation, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and team-building skills
  • Ability to understand both logistical and customer service aspects of the business
  • Cool under pressure
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Proven success in maintaining and growing the profitability of a company

  • Understand ethical and business practices and ensure own behavior and that of others is consistent with these standards
  • Communicate effectively, speak, listen, and write in a clear, concise, and timely manner using appropriate communication tools and techniques
  • Foster teamwork by working cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Organize, set priorities, develop work schedules, and monitor progress towards sales goals and track details/data/information/activities
Additional Information

Working hours fluctuate between 40 and 50 hours per week depending on business needs. The Director of Operations may be required to visit work sites to assess efficiencies and procedures on evenings and/or weekends on occasion. The operational demands of the position fluctuate throughout the year, being heaviest in our high season (May-December) and more office-based January through May.

The ideal candidate should understand that there are certain times of the year that require a more hands-on approach to the position and be able to adjust accordingly as needed.
