Executive Director of Health, Safety and Wellness

The Kettle Society is seeking an experienced Executive Director of Health, Safety and Wellness to join our team. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety strategies to maintain a safe working environment.
About The Kettle SocietyWe are a non-profit organization that supports people with mental illness to lead healthier lives by providing support services, advocacy, employment, and mentoring and housing. Our goal is to promote the inclusion of people living with mental illness in all aspects of society.
Job SummaryThis position reports to the Executive Director (ED) and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The successful candidate will have 7-10 years of progressive experience in occupational health and safety in a senior leadership or executive role. A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is required, along with professional safety designations such as CRST or CRSP.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement health and safety strategies to maintain a safe working environment
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and address gaps in health and safety practices
- Lead The Kettle's health and safety program, covering aspects including workplace violence, WHMIS, inspections, incident investigations, emergency response, infection prevention and control, contractor safety, food safety, hazard control, and risk management
- Build partnerships with external agencies and community groups to promote and enhance The Kettle's initiatives
- Emphasize leadership in Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion efforts
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in occupational health and safety in a senior leadership or executive role
- Professional safety designations such as CRST or CRSP
- Comfortable delivering presentations, training sessions, and reports on health and safety matters
- Ability to mentor and coach site teams on safety training programs and requirements
The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000 annually. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a municipal pension plan, life insurance, ADD, and LTD plan, employer-paid health and dental plan, flexible schedule, and work-from-home hybrid opportunity.
About the LocationThe Kettle Friendship Society is located at 1784 East Hastings, Vancouver, BC, V5L 1S9. The successful candidate will primarily work from their office at this location, especially during the first year, but will have opportunities to work from home and in a hybrid role thereafter.
