International Student Services Director

Thompson Rivers University is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Manager, International Student Services. This role plays a vital part in promoting student success and enhancing intercultural understanding among students, faculty, and staff.
About the RoleThis position involves leading programs, services, and activities that facilitate international students' inclusion into campus and community life. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and management skills, with experience working in complex, intercultural environments.
Responsibilities- Program Development and Execution: Develop, manage, and evaluate orientation programs, retention initiatives, information workshops, and events that encourage international students to participate in campus and community life.
- Team Management: Lead a team of International Student and Immigration Advisors, providing direction on immigration policies, travel to Canada, and settlement resources.
- Housing and Accommodation: Develop and manage a sustainable accommodation plan for international student housing, both on and off campus.
- Global Engagement: Promote global engagement through TRU World's annual International Days event and lead staff and students to enhance intercultural understanding, diversity, and equity on campus.
- Budgeting and Financial Management: Forecast, maintain, and reconcile annual and monthly budget planning cycles, allocating resources as per university policies and procedures.
- Communication and Marketing: Develop and evaluate a communications strategy that encompasses timely communication to students and promotes TRU World events, activities, and programs.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A bachelor's degree
- At least 5 years of experience working in international education or student affairs
- Eligibility for RISIA designation preferred
- Knowledge of trends, issues, and best practices in international student services, student engagement, and experiential education
- Strategic thinking, leadership, and management abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills
- A Class 5 Driver's License
The estimated salary for this role is $85,000 - $95,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. This position offers a competitive compensation package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
