Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Manager, International Student Services at Thompson Rivers University. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of international student services, student engagement, and experiential education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of International Student and Immigration Advisors to provide support to international undergraduate and graduate students, exchange students, and visiting students.
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate the execution of orientation programs, student retention initiatives, information workshops, and programs that encourage international students to participate in campus and community life.
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate the execution of the Leisure Exploration Activity Program, both on and off campus, with special emphasis on safety and risk management.
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate a sustainable accommodation plan for international student housing, both on and off campus.
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate the execution of activities designed to promote global engagement, including TRU World's annual International Days event.
  • Collaborate with on-campus housing to ensure a smooth transition for students.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Associate Director and the Managing Director in the development and implementation of best practices related to student services, event planning, and student programs delivery.
  • Manage staff, including LEAP and Orientation leaders, co-op students, work-study students, and event volunteers.
  • Manage contractors, procurement, and business relationships with external suppliers.
  • Foster collaboration and facilitate coordination with faculty and relevant TRU Divisions to enhance the international student experience.
  • Develop and evaluate a communications strategy that encompasses timely communication to students and promotes TRU World events, activities, and programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Eligibility for RISIA designation preferred
  • 5 years' experience working in the field of international education or student affairs
