About the Role:

The Senior Accounting Manager will play a critical role in the accounting and financial reporting cycle, ensuring compliance with IFRS Accounting Standards and internal accounting policies. Key responsibilities include managing end-of-period closes, driving process efficiencies, promoting a strong control environment, and serving as a key accounting resource for cross-functional business partners.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities for key operating subsidiaries.
  • Manage close checklists, review journal entries and account reconciliations, promoting continuous improvement and maintaining strong internal controls.
  • Partner with other departments to understand and support business processes, ensure proper accounting, and resolve reconciling differences.
  • Conduct trial balance reviews, providing insights and analysis on trends and material movements.
  • Leverage technology to build scalable/sustainable processes to create efficiencies, streamline accounting operations, and improve the employee experience.
  • Manage the accounting for HR/payroll-related activities, including accounting for long-term incentive plans.
  • Review financial ratios and covenants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will require a University undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, Canadian CPA designation (or equivalent), 7+ years of relevant experience in accounting and 4+ years of people management experience. Experience in multi-entity structures, subject matter expertise related to large-scale general ledger or accounting systems, and in-depth understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards and working knowledge of external reporting requirements for publicly traded companies are also necessary.
