Job Title: Casual Library Technician

We are seeking a qualified Casual Library Technician to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. As a Casual Library Technician, you will provide support to our elementary and secondary school libraries, ensuring that students and teachers have access to available resources during school hours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cataloging and classifying books and resource materials
  • Signing books in and out
  • Maintaining the library database and tracking materials inventory
  • Helping students and teachers locate books and materials
  • Recommending purchase of and purchasing age-appropriate resources for the library
Requirements:
  • Completion of a community college diploma in Library Information or an equivalent program
  • 1 to 2 years of library work experience (public library, records/archives management, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of library methodologies and tools
  • Ability to operate an automated library information system
  • Reference and cataloging skills
  • Love of reading and experience working with children
