McMaster University is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Lead to play a key leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, or a similar position, with a strong background in social media and digital communications.

This exciting opportunity offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 per year, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health spending account, retirement savings plans, vacation, professional development fund, and tuition assistance.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and managing a strategic communications program with an emphasis on storytelling and reputation development.
  • Overseeing digital communications, website development and content, social media, and emerging digital opportunities.
  • Managing and preparing internal communications, including generating story ideas, promoting employees' success and accomplishments, and identifying proactive opportunities for senior leaders to maximize effective communication.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree in Communications or a related field, with a Master's degree or specialist certification being an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis and issue management, sound judgment, and success in strategic planning, relationship management, and project management.
