Strategic Planner for Philanthropy

The estimated salary for this position is between $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. The location of the job is Central Campus.

Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive planned giving program for McMaster University. This involves creating planned giving strategies for the university and its units, as well as monitoring and enhancing philanthropic efforts to support the institution's strategic priorities.
The Director will work closely with donors, attorneys, trustees, and financial advisors to discuss opportunities for supporting McMaster and its faculties/units through deferred and planned giving vehicles.
- Devise a strategic approach for planning and implementing bequest and planned giving goals.
- Drive plans for philanthropy leads for each of McMaster's faculties/units to develop targeted planned giving plans.
- Develop and execute creative planned giving communications, including articles, presentations, brochures, and other marketing materials.
- Prioritize building and managing a portfolio of high net worth major and principal planned gift donors and prospects.
- Maintain current knowledge and advise on the impacts of changes in tax laws and emerging issues in the planned giving field.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor's degree (minimum), or a Master's degree (preferred).
- At least 8-10 years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of planned giving vehicles, current trends in philanthropy, and basic estate and financial planning.
