Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Area Leader to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating daily materials conveyance activities, ensuring the safety and efficiency of production operations, and leading a team of supervisors to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Teach, coach, and mentor supervisors to enhance leadership knowledge and skills
- Conduct performance appraisals and ensure timely completion of performance evaluations
- Ensure employees are trained or certified as required and participate in training programs
- Establish and maintain effective communication with all departments
- Support other area leaders and lead hands in compliance with health and safety procedures
- Plan and direct the utilization of equipment and manpower to achieve optimal results
- Monitor and adjust inventory balances as required, investigate inventory problems, and implement solutions
- Participate in personnel requirements planning, overtime scheduling, and coordinating layoffs
- Coordinate preventative maintenance with material handling equipment
- Support supervisors in compliance with OHSA procedures
- Participate in regular workplace inspections, suggest corrective actions, and support implementation
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of trucks and ensure accuracy of receipts and shipments
- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field (production/materials) and/or related work experience
- 3-5 years leadership experience
- Completion of Cosma International Post Graduate Program an asset
- Experience in material flow design in a Tier One automotive environment
- ERP systems experience, specifically CMS in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive business objectives and operational excellence
- Experienced in Lean Implementation (standardized work, 5S, value stream mapping, A3 Method, etc.)
- Strong communication, leadership, and time management skills
