Materials Team Leader

The Materials Area Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily materials conveyance activities to ensure the safety and efficiency of production operations. This position requires direct leadership responsibility, including the management of multiple shifts.
Your Responsibilities- Develop and implement training programs for Supervisors to enhance their leadership skills and ensure succession planning.
- Conduct performance appraisals and ensure that all employees receive regular feedback and coaching.
- Ensure that employees are properly trained and certified, and participate in training programs as required.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with other departments to achieve common goals.
- Support other Area Leaders and Lead Hands in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Plan and direct the utilization of equipment and manpower to achieve optimal results.
- Meet Presstran and departmental targets and goals, and monitor and adjust inventory balances as needed.
- Participate in personnel requirements planning, overtime scheduling, and other related activities.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance with Material Handling Equipment.
- Support supervisors in maintaining compliance with OHSA procedures.
- Participate in regular workplace inspections and suggest corrective actions.
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of trucks and ensure the accuracy of receipts and shipments.
- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field (production/materials) and/or related work experience.
- 3-5 years leadership experience.
- Completion of Cosma International Post Graduate Program an asset.
- Experience in Material Flow Design in a Tier One automotive environment.
- ERP systems experience, specifically CMS in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) along with data analysis to drive business objectives and operational excellence.
- Experienced in Lean Implementation (standardized work, 5S, value stream mapping, A3 Method, etc.).
- Must have a thorough knowledge of general office procedures, including PC and LAN computer use.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, and drive team to reach targets.
- Must possess time management, leadership, strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
