Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Global Trade Logistics Specialist to join our team at Danby Appliances. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility with a combination of remote and in-office work.

About the Role

The Customs Coordinator will assist in customs logistical functions associated with the import and export compliance of finished goods, spare parts, and samples entering North America from different parts of the world. Under the general direction of the Transportation & Logistics Manager, this position will play a critical role in ensuring seamless customs clearance and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Create and review import-export documentation related to Danby's overseas shipments and inter-company transfers between Canada and the USA.
  • Submit documentation for customs clearance to brokers accordingly.
  • Assist on container diversion requests with brokers to ensure accurate data transmission to CBSA or CBP.
  • Work with customs brokers to resolve clearance issues and prevent cargo delays upon arrival.
  • Review invoices received from brokers relating to imports/exports (Canada and the USA) for accuracy and report discrepancies to correspondent broker offices as needed.
  • Pull records and/or documentation required for duty drawback reporting for merchandise exported into the United States or Canada.
  • Support Finance on the administration of imports documentation.
  • Review HS code tariff classification and country of origin regulation requirements.
Requirements
  • A CCS certificate is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 2-5 years' experience in customs administration or international trade compliance.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of international logistics and knowledge of Import & Export principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required, including experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in task completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written correspondence.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Ability to build lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
What We Offer

This is a competitive salary position, offering an estimated $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a retirement savings plan.

Location

This role is based in Guelph, Ontario, with a requirement to be in the office at 5070 Whitelaw Road on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Remote work options are available on other days.
