Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at Michael Garron Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in our Surgical Unit, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality patient care and leading the Coordinated Care Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and coordinate care planning with the interdisciplinary team
  • Lead the Coordinated Care Team and ensure effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Apply clinical knowledge and leadership skills to collect and interpret information, make appropriate nursing decisions, and carry out therapeutic interventions
  • Participate in unit quality initiatives and measurements, including the collection of workload statistics
  • Contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Recent BLS required
  • Completed the Coordinated Care Team training
  • Certified in IV / Blood Procurement, Patient Controlled Analgesia patient care, TPN/Central Line Management, Ostomy Management/Teaching, Wound Care Management (complex)
  • Specialty knowledge in care and management of all surgical sub-specialties, GI, nephrology, gynecology, plastics, orthopaedic, ENT and thoracic surgical patients
  • Strong leadership skills and experience taking the lead in multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good work and attendance record required
