Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at Michael Garron Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in our Surgical Unit, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality patient care and leading the Coordinated Care Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and coordinate care planning with the interdisciplinary team
- Lead the Coordinated Care Team and ensure effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers
- Apply clinical knowledge and leadership skills to collect and interpret information, make appropriate nursing decisions, and carry out therapeutic interventions
- Participate in unit quality initiatives and measurements, including the collection of workload statistics
- Contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures
Requirements
- Current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Recent BLS required
- Two (2) years of recent surgical nursing experience in the last 3 years
- Completed the Coordinated Care Team training
- Certified in IV / Blood Procurement, Patient Controlled Analgesia patient care, TPN/Central Line Management, Ostomy Management/Teaching, Wound Care Management (complex)
- Specialty knowledge in care and management of all surgical sub-specialties, GI, nephrology, gynecology, plastics, orthopaedic, ENT, and thoracic surgical patients
- Strong leadership skills and experience taking the lead in multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good work and attendance record required
