Job Summary

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Operating Room - General Site and Day Surgery Unit - General and Consumers site. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, adhering to the full scope of nursing practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence in surgical nursing skills, including perioperative care and patient assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, utilizing strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Think critically, prioritize tasks, and organize work to meet patient needs, ensuring a safe and efficient care environment.
  • Participate in ongoing learning, professional development, and quality improvement initiatives, staying up-to-date with best practices and evidence-based care.
  • Assume a leadership role, demonstrating self-motivation and a commitment to continuing education in areas such as patient assessment, education, and related clinical specialties.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Nursing, with a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Operating Room post-diploma program certificate.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • 1-3 years recent Operating Room experience, with a preference for covering all surgical services.
  • Certified in Perioperative Nursing (CPNc) and Laser certification are assets.
  • Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.
