Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at Michael Garron Hospital. As a Surgical Nurse Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality patient care and leading the Coordinated Care Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective patient and family-centered care, applying clinical knowledge and leadership skills to collect and interpret information, make appropriate nursing decisions, and carry out therapeutic interventions.
  • Lead the Coordinated Care Team, ensuring high-level functioning and effective care planning, coordination, and delivery.
  • Develop and implement plans of care, including independent and interdependent nursing functions, and participate in unit quality initiatives and measurements.
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team, demonstrating strong leadership skills and experience taking the lead in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety, adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Recent BLS required.
  • Two (2) years of recent surgical nursing experience in the last 3 years.
  • Completed the Coordinated Care Team training.
  • Certified in IV / Blood Procurement, Patient Controlled Analgesia patient care, TPN/Central Line Management, Ostomy Management/Teaching, Wound Care Management (complex).
  • Specialty knowledge in care and management of all surgical sub-specialties, GI, nephrology, gynecology, plastics, orthopaedic, ENT, and thoracic surgical patients.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
