About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. In this role, you will provide a range of clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness and/or substance use or gambling disorder.

As a Community Outreach Worker, you will work in both clinic and community settings, providing screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. You will also play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Social Work degree, be registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body, and have one year of post-BSW clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions. You will also possess excellent assessment skills, the ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care, and a working knowledge of the DSM.

We are looking for a candidate who is knowledgeable about harm reduction, community development, and psychosocial rehabilitation. You will also have experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies focusing on harm reduction and recovery, as well as the ability to navigate and de-escalate situations and offer crisis support.

The successful candidate will be able to build and maintain collaborative working relationships, possess strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrate the ability to make sound and reliable clinical decisions. Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.

Hours

This is a permanent full-time position, with a 75-hour biweekly schedule. The successful candidate will work in a multi-site setting, with travel to a second site required on a regular basis.

Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $33.27 - $42.01, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
