Community Outreach Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. In this role, you will provide a range of clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness and/or substance use or gambling disorder.
The successful candidate will work in both clinic and community settings, providing screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. You will play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in social work, preferably with a Bachelor of Social Work degree, and experience in mental health and addictions. You must be registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body and have a minimum of one year post-BSW clinical experience in mental health and addictions.
The ideal candidate will have excellent assessment skills, the ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care, and a working knowledge of the DSM. You will also have experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies focusing on harm reduction and recovery, as well as the ability to navigate and de-escalate situations and offer crisis support.

About You- Strong background in social work, preferably with a Bachelor of Social Work degree
- Experience in mental health and addictions, preferably with a minimum of one year post-BSW clinical experience

- Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
- Travel to various sites may be required
$33.27 - $42.01 hourly
