Community Outreach Specialist

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to provide clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness and/or substance use or gambling disorder. The successful candidate will work in both clinic and community settings, providing a range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. This role requires a high degree of independent practice, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor of Social Work degree, registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body, and one year of post-BSW clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions. The ideal candidate will possess screening and risk assessment skills, including suicide risk assessment, and be knowledgeable about the DSM. They will also have experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies focusing on harm reduction and recovery, as well as group facilitation skills and the ability to navigate and de-escalate situations.
Hours and CompensationThis is a permanent full-time position with a salary range of $33.27 - $42.01 hourly. The successful candidate will work 75 hours biweekly and be required to use their skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care to clients and families.
