About the Role

As a Mental Health Care Worker with Fraser Health, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with their daily needs and promoting their overall well-being. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse, you will assist with routine care, psychosocial rehabilitative activities, and structured group activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene
  • Escort patients to off-site appointments and provide transportation
  • Assist with mealtime and feeding patients as required
  • Support patients with activities of daily living (ADL), including making beds and organizing personal belongings
  • Provide one-to-one personal care and observation of patients as directed by the RN/RPN
  • Report observations of patients' conditions to the Nursing staff and care team
  • Participate in meetings, such as ward rounds and team meetings, to provide feedback on patient observations
  • Facilitate patients' participation in psychosocial rehabilitation activities
  • Perform procedures such as weighing patients, monitoring nutritional and fluid intake, and collecting specimens
Requirements
  • Grade ten plus graduation from a recognized Mental Health Care Worker program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with access to a personal vehicle for business purposes
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
