Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Care Worker to join our team. As a Mental Health Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
  • Participate in psychosocial rehabilitation activities, including structured group activities and individual support, to promote patient stabilization and rehabilitation.
  • Monitor patients' status and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
  • Assist patients with mealtime, including feeding and monitoring their safety.
  • Transport patients to off-site appointments and participate in unit scheduled individual and group activities.
  • Facilitate patients' participation in psychosocial rehabilitation activities, including setting schedules and participating in unit scheduled individual and group activities.
  • Maintain unit safety by assisting with routine searches of rooms and client belongings, as directed by nursing staff.
  • Perform procedures such as weighing patients, monitoring nutritional and fluid intake, and collecting specimens.
  • Record observations and reports problems and/or changes to the RN/RPN.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities by providing input and feedback on department initiatives.
Requirements
  • Grade ten plus graduation from a recognized Mental Health Care Worker program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
