Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Accounting Specialist to join our team at Melloy Industrial Services Inc. This is a full-time position that will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and reconcile trade contractor payments, general expenditures, and internal payroll costing allocations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Meet all contract payment terms as per legislation, contract terms, and company policies and procedures.
  • Analyze adjustments, submissions, and reports, and follow up on any issues or discrepancies.
  • Provide ad hoc reports and analysis to the project team as required.
  • Assist with year-end procedures and internal/external financial reporting requirements.
  • Assemble client billings packages by contract terms and conditions, and follow up for on-time payment.
  • Prepare bank deposits and/or monthly reconciliations, and prepare subsequent cash receipt entries where required.
  • Review and analyze monthly contract reports to ensure accuracy of cash flow, fee reconciliation, and ledger balance.
Qualifications
  • A postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline is required.
  • 1-2 years of progressive experience in project administration and accounting in the construction industry is preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of full-cycle accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash-flows.
  • Intermediate understanding of project forecasting and budgeting, as well as knowledge of project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently or in a team environment, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and enter financial information to meet deadlines and requirements.
Requirements
  • Estimated salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Must be willing to take and pass a pre-access alcohol & drug test.
  • Ability to travel and work on job sites across Alberta may be required.
