Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting services to support the financial objectives and operational requirements of assigned portfolios. This includes budget development, cost tracking, and assisting with various financial activities while maintaining a strong connection to Central Financial Services and SBAs on campus.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Financial Analysis: Assist with budgeting, financial planning, reporting, analysis, and forecasting processes to ensure timely and accurate financial information is available to stakeholders.
  • Financial Transactions: Process, record, and track financial transactions, including invoices, payments, accruals, pre-paid expenses, and deferrals, in accordance with University of Saskatchewan policies.
  • Fund Reconciliations: Coordinate and complete fund reconciliations on a monthly basis, including coordination and completion of required journal entry transfers.
  • Fee-for-Service Activities: Coordinate and complete fee-for-service activities, including invoicing, costing, reconciling, and reporting.
Qualifications:
  • Education: A relevant certificate or degree, preferably in Business, Accounting, or a related field. Enrollment in a professional accounting program leading to the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) accounting designation is an asset.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in general accounting, preferably in an institutional setting. Experience with budgeting would be considered an asset.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving skills, communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite is required. Knowledge of USask financial, HR, and work management systems (UniFi/FAST, About-US, UnivRS) would be considered a strong asset.
