Position Overview:

NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services Ltd. is seeking a Branch Manager for the Crane Division. The ideal candidate will possess a background in Crane operations, Engineering, or Business, with a thorough understanding of crane functionalities, capabilities, and industry standards.

The Branch Manager will be responsible for overseeing all branch operations, which include safety protocols, bidding processes, dispatching, operational management, engineering tasks, financial planning, and fleet upkeep. This role ensures that all activities adhere to quality standards and are executed within established timelines. Additionally, the Branch Manager will formulate and enforce branch policies that align with corporate objectives and collaborate with other branches to maintain operational schedules and implement necessary adjustments as needed. The successful candidate must be adept at evaluating projects, determining crane requirements, and executing tasks with precision. It is expected that the Branch Manager may operate cranes or maneuver Class 1 vehicles as project demands dictate. Furthermore, this role includes hiring, training, and directing staff while fostering a culture of safety and compliance with regulations.

  • Direct and enhance operational efficiency within the branch.
  • Develop and implement strategic branch planning to ensure the effective execution of functions in line with corporate standards.
  • Monitor branch performance and provide solutions to recurring issues that may impact operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance while maintaining a safe and respectful workplace.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, including relationship management and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Oversee the entire local value chain of activities (sales, estimating, execution, equipment sourcing) with support from corporate services (Finance, HR, Safety, Fleet).
  • Promote a strong local culture that aligns with the company's mission of delivering innovative solutions.
  • Ensure all branch personnel are aligned with company goals and core values by monitoring compliance with policies and industry regulations.
  • Encourage safe work practices and ensure job duties are performed efficiently, providing support as necessary.
  • Actively promote company services and seek growth opportunities while maintaining profitable relationships with clients.
  • Identify and communicate potential growth opportunities to the executive team.
  • Prepare annual budgets (P&L and capital expenditure targets) based on market analysis, fleet refurbishment needs, and capital investments, ensuring adherence to cost controls and efficiency measures.
  • Oversee updates to equipment, inventory management, and purchasing processes to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drive profitability and growth in sales activities in alignment with the company's vision and values.
  • Demonstrate hands-on capabilities by operating cranes or moving equipment as project requirements dictate.
  • Previous experience in crane operation and/or Class 1 vehicle operation is preferred.
  • Oversee overall branch performance and assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to relocate if not currently residing in the area.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in mobile crane operations and project management is advantageous.
  • Journeyman Crane Operator certification is required.
  • Candidates with a Class 1 License will be prioritized.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and mentoring experience.
  • Prior managerial experience in the crane industry is preferred.
  • The Branch Manager should be comfortable in a service-oriented business and understand customer and market needs to meet them profitably.
  • Ability to manage multiple operations in a complex organization effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to translate customer needs into service requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to view situations from various perspectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to adapt to new systems as required.
  • A safety-conscious attitude and leadership style.
