Position Overview:

NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services Ltd. is seeking a Branch Manager for the Crane Division. The ideal candidate will possess a background in Crane operations, Engineering, or Business, with extensive knowledge of crane functionalities, capabilities, and industry standards.

The Branch Manager will be responsible for all operational aspects of the branch, including safety protocols, bidding processes, dispatching, operational management, engineering oversight, financial planning, and fleet upkeep. They will ensure that all activities adhere to quality standards and are executed within the designated timelines. Additionally, they will formulate and implement branch policies that align with corporate directives and collaborate with other branches to maintain operational schedules and make necessary adjustments as needed. The Branch Manager must be capable of assessing job requirements, selecting appropriate cranes, and executing tasks with the necessary expertise. It may be required for the Branch Manager to operate a crane or maneuver Class 1 equipment as project demands dictate. Furthermore, they will be responsible for hiring, assigning, training, and supervising personnel while fostering a culture of safety and compliance with safety regulations.

  • Direct and enhance operational efficiency within the branch.
  • Develop and execute effective branch/site planning to ensure the successful completion of functions in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Monitor overall branch performance, providing solutions to recurring issues that may impact operations.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service, including relationship management and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Manage the entire local value chain of activities (sales, estimating, execution, equipment sourcing) with support from corporate shared services (Finance, HR, Safety, Fleet).

  • Ensure that all branch employees are familiar with and adhere to company goals, objectives, and core values by monitoring compliance with policies and industry regulations.
  • Ensure employees follow safe work practices and complete job responsibilities efficiently, providing support as necessary.
  • Actively promote company services and seek growth opportunities while maintaining profitable relationships with clients.
  • Identify and communicate potential growth opportunities to the executive team.
  • Prepare annual budgets (P&L and capital expenditure targets) based on market projections, fleet refurbishment, and capital needs, while enforcing cost controls to achieve financial targets.
  • Monitor updates of equipment, parts inventories, and purchasing processes to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead and drive profitability, growth, and sales direction in alignment with company vision and values.
  • Be prepared to assist hands-on by operating a crane or moving equipment as project needs arise.
  • Prior experience in crane operation and/or Class 1 driving is preferred.
  • Oversee overall branch performance.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be residing in or willing to relocate.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in mobile crane operations and project management is preferred.
  • Journeyman Crane Operator certification is required.
  • Candidates with a Class 1 License will be prioritized.
  • Hands-on leadership and mentoring experience are essential.
  • Previous managerial experience in the crane industry is preferred.
  • The Branch Manager should be comfortable in a service-driven environment, understanding customer and market needs to meet them profitably.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple operational components in a complex organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and capacity to translate customer needs into business requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to view situations from various perspectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to learn new systems as needed.
  • Safety-conscious attitude and leadership style.
