Senior Scientist, Cell Biology and Assay Development

Zymeworks is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Scientist to join our In Vitro Biology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and executing in vitro pharmacology experiments to support the development of novel technologies for Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs).
Key Responsibilities- Experiment Design and Execution: Design, coordinate, and execute in vitro pharmacology experiments to support the development of ADCs.
- Assay Development: Develop and troubleshoot novel assays to profile the mechanism of action of ADCs across multiple payload classes.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Apply knowledge of cancer biology, medicinal chemistry, and other scientific methodologies to conduct technically advanced analyses and data interpretations.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate the execution of decision-making experiments and share progress updates with the team.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership, mentorship, and scientific/technical guidance to junior staff.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Zymeworks' standard procedures for generating, documenting, and archiving data, maintaining an accurate, up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook.
- Education and Experience: PhD in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry with a minimum 1-2 years' relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Assay Development Experience: Demonstrated experience with cell-based or biochemical assay development.
- Cancer Biology and Therapeutic Mechanisms: Demonstrated understanding of in vitro cancer models and therapeutic mechanisms of actions.
- Characterization and Analysis of Biotherapeutics: Experience with characterization and analysis of biotherapeutics (small molecules, antibodies, Fc-fusion proteins, ADCs or other immunoconjugates) is an asset.
- High-Throughput Screening Assays: Experience with high-throughput screening assays and workflows is an asset.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, allocate resources, and deliver on deadlines.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Professional Standards and Confidentiality: Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality on matters that require discretion.
- Organizational and Time Management Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, work effectively in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Leadership and Mentorship Skills: Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills.
- Results-Oriented: Results-oriented.
- Knowledge of Antibody or Antibody-Drug Conjugate Structure/Function: In-depth knowledge of antibody or antibody drug conjugate structure/function.
- Software Proficiency: Knowledge of GraphPad and FlowJo softwares, or similar software, considered an asset.

The Canadian base salary range for this full-time position is $86,000 - $120,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
