Senior Research Scientist – Protein Characterization

AbCellera is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing experiments to characterize antibodies and other therapeutic proteins using mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute experiments to analyze protein structures, post-translational modifications, and other characteristics
- Perform mass spectrometry analysis of antibodies and other therapeutic proteins, including intact mass, peptide mapping, glycan profile, and other post-translational modifications
- Develop and perform analytical assays for protein characterization, including UPLC, light scattering, CE-SDS, cIEF
- Train and mentor members of the research team
- Solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions
- Liaise with partners and communicate project updates and deliverables
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures
- Organize and support team members to meet project deliverables and timelines
- PhD in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or related field, or MSc with 5+ years of experience in an academic or industry wet lab environment with emphasis on mass spectrometry
- Demonstrated expertise in protein mass spectrometry analysis, including intact mass and peptide mapping assays for identifying and quantifying post-translational modifications on antibodies
- Experience with high-throughput characterization technologies and automation
- Hands-on experience with sample preparation for mass spectrometry analysis
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
AbCellera offers a competitive salary range of CAD $75,200 - $94,000 annually, commensurate with education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution. You will also have access to a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, and comprehensive health benefits.
