BC Cancer is a leader in cancer research, diagnosis, treatment, and care. We are part of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and provide comprehensive cancer control for the people of British Columbia.

We have six regional cancer centres across the province, as well as two research centres that conduct groundbreaking research into the causes and cures for cancer.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Provincial Psychiatric Director of Cancer Care to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of psychiatric care services for patients with cancer throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure high-quality psychiatric care services are delivered to patients with cancer across the province.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve access to psychiatric care services for patients with cancer, particularly those from underserved populations.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of care between psychiatric and medical teams.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in cancer care and psychiatric medicine, and incorporate this knowledge into practice.
  • Mentor and support junior staff members to develop their skills and expertise in psychiatric care for patients with cancer.

Requirements

  • Fellowship in Psychiatry with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.
  • Eligible for provisional or full licensure with CPSBC.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment, preferably in a cancer setting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
