Mortgage Funding Specialist

About the Role:

First National is seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Funder to join our team. As a Mortgage Funder, you will play a critical role in the mortgage process, ensuring that all files are instructed, advanced, and closed in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify solicitor entitlement and accuracy of information
  • Check lender and CMHC/GE approval
  • Confirm solicitor's representation of the mortgagor
  • Prepare and send instructional packages to solicitors
  • Follow up with solicitors for advance requests
  • Organize mortgage files in the correct order
  • Check request for funds from solicitors
  • Send mortgage advance sheets to the accounting department
  • Send solicitors a list of outstanding conditions, mortgage commitment, and mortgage advance breakdown
  • Coordinate with solicitors for fund releases
  • Ensure all conditions are met and documentation is complete before closing
  • Close files in the system and send to accounting
  • Review solicitor mortgage documentation for compliance with regulatory and company guidelines
  • Escalate any documentation issues to the Mortgage Underwriter and/or Manager
  • Coordinate with mortgage accounting for timely fund releases
  • Respond to inquiries within established turnaround times
  • Adhere to AML requirements

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods
  • Post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Competency in MS Office and capacity to learn new technologies/systems
