Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Apprentice Power Line Technician to join our team at Hundseth Power Line Construction (HPL). The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, constructing, and maintaining all overhead and underground distribution, transmission lines, switching stations, substations, communication networks, and streetlight facilities.



Key Responsibilities


  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, and directional bore machines.
  • Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to the foreman.
  • Assist in the installation, construction, and maintenance of power lines, including overhead and underground lines.
  • Perform specialized testing and maintenance on power line equipment.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians to complete complex tasks.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and education to develop skills and knowledge.


Requirements


  • A valid Apprentice Power Line Technician Trade card from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license with a 1A preference.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment, such as backhoes, trenchers, and skid steers.
  • One or more years of experience in construction.
  • Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends as required.
  • Ability to lift heavy tools and equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • This position is considered a safety-sensitive role; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical evaluation.
