About the Role

The Kitchen Aide is a vital position within our communities, significantly impacting the lives of residents and fostering a sense of warmth and human connection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Setup: Prepare food and ingredients according to standardized recipes, ensuring quality and quantity meet expectations.
  • Supply Management: Receive, check, and store food and supply deliveries in accordance with food safety standards, Health and Safety regulations, and prescribed practices.
  • Quality Control: Monitor food supplies and advise the team leader on duty of any issues or concerns.
  • Reporting and Communication: Report food, supply, and equipment needs to the team leader and maintain open communication throughout the shift.
  • Event Support: Assist with the delivery, setup, and removal of food for special events, buffets, and catered functions.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Complete assigned cleaning tasks according to instructions and cleaning schedules.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the team leader.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Experience: Minimum one year experience in volume food preparation, catering, and special event preparation in the Hospitality or Retirement Residences industry.
  • Certifications: Must have a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  • Skills: Possess good public relations and communication skills, demonstrate a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence, and be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for the majority of the shift.
  • Criminal Record Check: All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Smart Serve Certificate: Having a Smart Serve Certificate is an asset.
