Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Midwife to join our team at the Government of Nunavut. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive midwifery care to childbearing women, babies, and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary health care services to childbearing women, babies, and families in accordance with the Health/Midwifery Act and the philosophy and objectives of the midwifery-led maternity care program.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes for mothers and babies.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive and coordinated approach to care.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in midwifery care to ensure the highest quality of service.
Requirements
  • Midwifery Diploma from Nunavut Arctic College or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Nunavut Midwifery Registration Committee or a recognized midwifery body.
  • Minimum of two years post-registration experience, with one year of experience considered with supervision.
  • Ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, French) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is also an asset.
