About the Role

The Associate Director, Finance Branch, plays a key role in the financial management of the Métis Nation of Ontario. This position oversees and supports the day-to-day activities of the Finance Branch employees, ensuring accurate financial information is provided to the C-Suite and PCMNO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall financial operations, including financial accounting, management, analysis, reporting, forecasting, cost management, and budgeting.
  • Oversee financial transactions, including journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and statutory reporting.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies and procedures.
  • Elevate critical financial issues to the Director, Finance and CFO.
  • Effectively oversee the performance management of the Finance Branch, ensuring coaching, skills building, and accountability.
  • Manage the year-end external audit by coordinating the preparation of working papers and provision of materials to external auditors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • Clear understanding of Métis Nation of Ontario's issues and Métis and Indigenous People in Ontario.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve conflicts and manage challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and expand knowledge and be flexible in a dynamic environment.
  • High degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment.
  • Strong communication skills in English, spoken and written.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in senior financial management.
  • Experience and knowledge of accounting systems, internal controls, business planning, and asset management.
  • Proven experience coaching, mentoring, and developing employees, and building high-performance teams.
