Compliance Officer

Société Générale de Surveillance SA is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join its Trade Surveillance team in Montreal. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the firm's compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough assessments of surveillance controls to ensure their effectiveness, efficiency, and alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Assess regulatory risks associated with changes to regulations, new business initiatives, and requisite surveillance control modifications.
- Develop and maintain surveillance control business requirement documents and test all control enhancements.
- Support regional and global surveillance initiatives relating to program governance and control development, testing, and deployment.
- Assist with compliance risk assessments and provide expert advice to senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of surveillance initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- 3-10 years of experience in a trade surveillance role, with a strong understanding of applicable regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivation and a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
While not required, the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Degree specialized in Finance or a related field.
- Specialization in surveillance testing or a related field.
- Experience with vendor trade surveillance platforms.
Fluency in English is required, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms. French language skills are also an asset.
