Job Title: Employment and Income Assistance Counsellor

The Manitoba Government is seeking a skilled and compassionate Employment and Income Assistance Counsellor to join our team. As a Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families in need, helping them to access the resources and services they require to achieve stability and independence.

Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As an EIA Counsellor, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of participants, developing and implementing individualized plans, and connecting them with community resources and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the needs of participants and develop individualized plans to support their goals and objectives
  • Provide counselling and support to participants, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve stability and independence
  • Connect participants with community resources and services, including employment and training programs, housing and healthcare services
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies and organizations to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting participants
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports, as required
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as social work or counselling
  • Related experience in a social services or counselling role, preferably in a government or non-profit setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software applications
