Controller Job Description

CB Canada is seeking a highly skilled Controller to lead our accounting and clerical department. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for planning and directing all accounting operational functions, including the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts, monitoring them on a monthly basis
  • Oversee the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure timely cash collection
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and daily cash management
  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation, and other departmental or firm-wide improvements
  • Provide executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
  • Direct finance department activities, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
  • Evaluate, apply, and refine policies, procedures, controls, and methodologies
Requirements:
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
  • Real estate or property management industry experience is an asset
  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Top-notch analytical, quantitative, and social skills
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to prioritize deals, and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
