VHA Home HealthCare is a leading provider of home care services in Ontario, with a team of over 3,000 dedicated professionals. Our mission is to deliver high-quality, client-centered care to those who need it most in their homes, schools, and community settings.

About the Role

We are seeking volunteers to join our Connected Families, Parenting Support Program, which provides temporary relief and support services to at-risk families caring for children from birth to four years of age. As a volunteer, you will work with families to provide emotional support, practical assistance, and connect them with community resources.

Responsibilities
  • Visit families weekly for three hours, engaging in meaningful conversations and activities with children and parents.
  • Support parents in planning and preparing healthy meals for their children.
  • Provide information about community resources and accompany families to local events and activities.
  • Complete weekly logs and attend meetings and training sessions as required.
Requirements
  • Person-centered and caring attitude.
  • Related child development experience and knowledge of community resources.
  • Strong active listening skills and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with mental health concerns, such as post-partum depression.
