About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced commercial lines leader to join our team at DGA Careers. As a hybrid underwriting manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters, developing and maintaining broker relationships, and providing market intelligence and strategic insights to underwriting management.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of underwriters and provide support and direction for decisions on new business and renewals
- Develop and maintain broker relationships through networking and providing support to broker partners
- Provide market intelligence and strategic insights to underwriting management
- Participate in product development initiatives by providing necessary analysis and reports
- Train and mentor junior underwriters and provide underwriting sign-off as needed
What We're Looking For:
- Eight years of commercial lines underwriting experience, preferably MGA experience
- At least 3 years of leadership/management experience in underwriting
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Level 1 General Insurance license
- Professional designation preferred (CAIB, CIP, CRM, FCIP or in progress)
