The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Service Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Service Engineer, you will provide engineering support for the integration and problem diagnosis of our navigational system products. This will involve assembling, testing, installing, configuring, servicing, and repairing our products and navigational systems for our clients at locations around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with a professional attitude and be a team player.
  • Install and commission navigation systems products at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware assembly problems, as well as software configuration, network, and integration issues.
  • Assist the Systems Engineering and Software Test departments in designing, developing, and implementing system test environments to support product development and project requirements.
  • Support the Training team in developing and delivering technical training to customers on system installation, maintenance, and problem diagnosis.
  • Organize and manage team tasks and activities related to the role.
  • Provide customer support through the OSI Support team.
  • Discuss technical issues related to the setup and configuration of OEM sensors and equipment with the OEM.
  • Provide technical support and advice to internal staff in resolving technical problems.
  • Maintain required records and complete them in accordance with service procedures.
  • Produce and maintain all required documentation in compliance with company requirements and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Perform all required testing for relevant products and maintain the required documents in the Company databases.
  • Mark discrepancies in drawings and documentation and forward the markups to the relevant department for correction.
  • Work with the Systems Engineering department to create and/or edit as-built drawings and documentation when tasked with design of OSI Systems.
  • Use supplied software and firmware tools to interrogate and diagnose issues, configure and update OSI navigation subsystems and systems.
  • Assess supplied software and firmware tools with reference to update and inclusion of new tools to enhance OSI Service capability.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, material, and documentation required for each job are in good order.
  • Ensure awareness of and compliance to all applicable employment, environmental, health, and WCB safety legislation.
  • Perform additional project-associated tasks as required and determined by the Service Supervisor and Supportability Manager.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Engineering or related field, or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience, preferably in the military domain; experience in delivering complex support solutions to government/military customers is an asset.
  • Skills: Minimum of 5 years of practical work experience in a Service Engineering environment, preferably in marine electronics; experience in building and troubleshooting computer issues, radar, and electronic sensors is an asset. Extensive knowledge of electronic and Windows operating systems; working knowledge of system networks and software scripting; excellent customer relations, prioritization, organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills; detail-oriented; ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A working understanding of communication and data transfer standards is essential.
  • Other: Ability and willingness to travel and continually learn new procedures and techniques; must be eligible to meet and maintain requirements for security clearance as applicable.
